Commercial Agency Termination Dispute Lawyers in Dubai

A registered commercial agency is protected by the Commercial Agencies Law, Federal Law No. 18 of 1981, as amended. A principal generally cannot end or refuse to renew it without a lawful reason. Registration status is the first question.

Is the agency registered?

Registration with the Ministry of Economy is central. A registered agent has statutory protection, including exclusivity for the registered goods or services in the territory. An unregistered arrangement falls back on contract and general law.

What counts as a lawful reason to end it?

The law and the contract set the grounds. A principal that ends the relationship to appoint someone else, or because the agent built a strong market, risks a compensation claim. We examine the stated reason and the evidence.

Where is the dispute heard?

Registered agencies have a specific process through the committee at the Ministry of Economy, alongside or before the courts. We confirm the route. See agent compensation for the money claim.

Common questions

Can a principal appoint a new agent immediately?

Not freely where a registered agency exists. Doing so may breach the agent's rights.

What if the contract says either side can terminate on notice?

That clause may not override statutory protection for a registered agency.
